Our Story

What We Carry is a curated collection by Olive You, created to support Palestinian artists and makers to build sustainable livelihoods through their own work.

This is not a traditional shop. It is an intentional alternative to extractive, charity-based models. Every piece in this collection is created by Palestinians whose lives and futures have been shaped by displacement, occupation, and genocide — and whose talent deserves to be valued on its own terms.

Behind each item is a person, not a product.

Our Craftsmanship

Each piece in this shop is made by Palestinian hands, shaped by skill, care, and lived experience.

These are not mass-produced items. They are the result of knowledge passed down, creativity nurtured through adversity, and work done with intention. The craftsmanship reflects the people behind it — their stories, their resilience, and their right to earn with dignity.

Our Model

100% of profits from What We Carry are reinvested.

Profits are returned directly to the artists and makers featured in the collection and reinvested into Olive You’s wider work supporting Palestinian-led livelihoods, creative practices, and community spaces.

Nothing here is driven by maximising margins or volume.
Everything is designed to prioritise dignity, sustainability, and long-term futures.

This means:

  • Artists are paid fairly for their work

  • Creation is led by those closest to the work

  • No one is reduced to a case study or a cause

Our Belief

We believe real solidarity means:

  • Palestinians leading their own work

  • Income created through skill, not dependency

  • Art and craft recognised as labour, not symbolism

  • Futures built without reliance on charity

Owning a piece from What We Carry means more than buying an object.
It means carrying a story, investing in liberation, and standing alongside people who continue to create life under impossible conditions.

Our Commitment

What We Carry exists so Palestinian artists and makers can:

  • sustain themselves through their talent

  • continue creating and sharing their work with the world

  • build futures rooted in dignity, not survival alone

This is work made with care.
This is solidarity made tangible.
This is what we carry, together.
